I need some advice on this panel I am considering.
I currently still have to use the standard "key" to start the car,,the cylinder is pretty sloppy and I would like to get rid of the key all together.....

I have 3 toggle switches currently IN the dash for the Fuel pump, Water and Fan....

I am thinking it should be pretty easy to convert what i have over using the painless instrument panel... I enclosed a link,,,,
Most of what I need to hook to the painless panel is already "plumbed" up to the dash except the ignition...

Might even run the headlights to one of the extra switches on the painless unit.

Does this panel look like it would do the job ??

thanks for any input,,,advice,,,comments....

Doug that one will do what you need. I have a 6 circuit one in mine but I have the long roll bar mount one. I do use the one acc switch for the headlights. Should be an easy hook up since you already have the switches at the dash.

Russ, Thanks for the response !
Hope your doing well...
I am hoping it should go in pretty easy since most of the wiring is already up in the dash,,,
See ya this summer

Hi Doug,

Randy's friend...I have the same panel in Randy's GTX now, and am using the original wiring harness that I unwrapped and added wires to replace the bad/burnt wires. I had installed a few Ron Francis wiring harnesses, so I had plenty of marked and correct gauge wires for it.

I also bought the Ron Francis fuse/relay panel and deleted the old panel, and have all high current items on a relay or a separate fused circuit.

Since Randy's dash panel had a crack in the right side, I mounted the panel/box under the dash using some of the same dash screws, and it turned our really nice.

Is this project for your race car or street car?

BR, Mark

PS: I bought and installed the Bendpak 4-post in my garage last year...Great!

Just make sure to check the amp capacity of the toggles if you are not running relays. Especially for the radiator fan as they usually draw the most current. I could not find toggle capacity specs on the Painless website but they have a "caution" remark about the need for relays. All the feed wire on the 50406 are 14 Ga. except the main which is 10 Ga.

Shorthorse,,,Thanks for the input and link,,,Going to crawl up under the dash soon and check,,,I think the previous owner has everything up to snuff with relays,,,but I will double check everything,,,,Thanks !

Mark,,,how are you !?
I am working on the 65 Belvedere ( race car )
Glad to hear you like the lift,,,good choice... I bolted mine down to the floor,,,and it was a major improvement,,,no sway,,,very sturdy,,You will get a lot of use out of it,,,Not sure if you got the low profile sliding jack,,but also a nice upgrade to have....
Glad to hear your GTX is coming along,,,can't wait to see it,,,you going to Norwalk this year ? ( July i believe ? ),,,If so, i will find you and have a beer with you,,,,

Thanks everyone for the input and advice,,,,

Sincerely
Doug
