Guys always say to me..."That little thing must be a Handful!!" Well....no not really! Much easier than dumping the clutch at 4K in my 427 Cobra. As you can see it pretty much tracks as straight as a rail. I dont think my left hand moves more than a couple inches side to side the whole pass. I drove 4 speeds for years, autos are just so....ho-hum! I need to go back to racing a 4 speed, i kinda miss all the stabbin' and grabbin' http://youtu.be/PjXcf95e6v0

I found that on a short WB car.. I have to lock my arm/elbow to the door so I dont turn the wheel on the launch.. if I dont the Gs will move my arm and thats when you end up turning the wheel more than needed.. granted your a bit shorter WB but I am a bit quicker on the 60' and thats where the arm comes into play.. after I hit second I can pretty much relax and can damn near take my hand off the wheel(I dont.. but its that easy to drive)... looks good.. that thing is pretty narrow.. looks like you barely can get 2 people in the front...love the odd ball stuff

[/quote] LOL.... now thats funny.. a little N/A truck VS a blower and they dont want to play... LOL EDIT I think my Rampage is even wider than your ride.. by a little bit.....MAYBE

Porter,
Yeah, I'm deliberately sneaking up on the launch by 2 stepping at about 3/4 throttle, I'll bump up the chip and the throttle position as I get more comfortable with it. Optimizing the weight transfer is what I'm concentrationg on mainly now, theres really only so much weight I can put over the short nose to keep it from wheelstanding...or negatively effecting the hook.
What I got is good, or better than it was, by no means is it all the way there yet. Got to find the optimal and repeatable balance of 60' ET and control.

I'm thinking since I'm leaving off the back barrels anyway, I'm gonna have Dom ( ThumperDart) work his 2 circuit magic on the 1000hp 4150, i still have a 3 circuit in the front carb so making the change may sharpen the 60' and pull a little cleaner/sharper up top.
Don't get me wrong, I'm really happy with the progress i'm making with it, i just know another 1/10th in the 60' ( from high 1.50's to mid/high 1.40's) should put this thing close to the mid tens and the upper 120's, and I know the converter is about perfect and this 414" motor clearly has the power to put it there.

Hoping to get my converter bumped up to 5500 from 5180 asap. I am cutting the bellhousing off this weekend to put an Ultrabell on my powerglide and while its apart going to slip a converter in that I had build for my small tire car. I had one made for my 572 as a NA combo and never tried it. I hope its around 5400-5500 so I can send the other one out to bump it up. Great job on getting Rocky into the 10's with more to come.

Thanks PBR,
I remember your encouraging words and sage converter advice, it helped me a lot. Its been a back and forth of better lanch speed = wheelie= add weight, repeat cycle. First full throttle pass in the summer of 2012 with a 10" T/A converter was 11.81 @ 114, with an 8" and only slightly bigger cam and heads its now almost a second quicker and 9 MPH faster and i think the power and torque has pretty much been there all along. This odd chassis combo has been both challanging and immensely fun and I've learned a lot working on something that is worlds away from the scores of A, B and E bodys I've hadvor worked on the past 30 years.....even though the LA small block motor, 904 trans and 68 Roadrunner 8 3/4 are essentially identical to any other Mopar
It takes longer and it's vexing at times...but making something work that 'ain't supposed to work' has always been the most fun about hot rodding for me.
