Use a shorter rod, then the pin won't be in oil ring. I'm almost sure the oil rings won't be in the wrist pin I would call the piston maker you want to buy from and ask them about the wrist pin location with your stroke and the 7.100 long rods The lomger the rods the lighter the pistons can be

I have Eagle 4.5 crank with 2.2 rod journals , eagle 7.1 rods and Diamond 10.5 pistons in my 572 . Hemi's normally use a 8 bolt crank. Most distributors have all the items you need.

Not sure if you'll be able to find a stroker kit or not but it isn't too hard to build your own. A 572 requires a 4.500 stroke crankshaft which you can get from SCAT, Callies, Molnar, etc. If it was me I'd use the Chevy 2.200 rod journals and then use a 7.100 long connecting rod. Then you just need pistons but those shouldn't be too hard to find. Diamond, JE, Ross, Wiseco, etc. can take care of you. If you want to use an internal oil pickup you will need to use the 2.200 size rod journals. As far as the Mopar Performance aluminum heads and valve gear, my M/Perf Edelbrock casting aluminum Hemi heads the springs went from 140 lbs of seat pressure down to 110 lbs of seat pressure in about 900 miles. Junk!

If you're starting from scratch on buying parts I'd say use the 2.200 size rod journals and eliminate the need for the external oil pick-up completely. If I would have known, I would have. It really depends on which block you start with on the external oiling system. If it's a Mopar Performance/World block that has the AN boss on the front of the number 1 cylinder it's not too bad. You basically need a pan mount swinging or fixed pick-up and a line to run it to the AN boss. You can use any normal style oil pump. Mine uses a regular Street Hemi oil pan with the swinging pick-up. How mine looked before paint. Without the AN boss you need a pump that uses an external oil feed line, which can run into engine mount clearance problems if you run factory style mounts. As far as the heads, if you replace the installed Mopar valve springs the Mopar Perf heads would probably be fine. Stage V heads might be a better option.

Thanks guys for the replies. I obviously need to learn more before bringing out the checkbook. Appreciate your knowledge. You don't need knowledge. That's what Ray Barton is for. All you need is a phone.

I did and would again call or e-mail Tim At FHO [for Hemi's only] for information about your build and what he can do for you.

It has been a long while since I last assembled a 4.500 stroke 426 type Hemi motor so I may be not remebering correctly on the wrist pin location

A little wiggle room between crank and piston.

I have had a few 572's (4.50" x 4.50"). All with Diamond pistons. Two with 7.1" rods and .990 pins (2.20" rods). Neither had the pin in the oil ring. I had one for heavy nitrous once that had thicker domes and the rings moved down. It had the pin in the oil ring.

Hmmmm.. Maybe I would just be better off going with a 4.25 stroke I think that would give me a 528 with the 4.5 bore correct? Might be a whole bunch simpler for this newbie. Thanks for the replies. Maybe 540 with 4.25 528 with 4.15
