I am looking at buying another race car. I dont have an enclosed trailer. I am wondering if anyone knows how to cover an open one? I am hoping someone has some good ideas.

I would be concerned any covering ( car cover,,etc ),,would ruin the paint while towing it, unless you could "shrink wrap" it,,,ie,,keep it real tight so it doesnt flap around..
anyone local that could help you with an enclosed,,,,? good luck....

wrap it real good in plastic thats why I have enclosed trailers as well as the open...I once used a car cover pulled tight over a car...just ended up getting beatin up by the cover.. know a guy that used that plastic wrap that comes in big rolls like the stuff thats used in shipping....

If your not starting the build(making a enclosed trailer) dont bother, you would most likely exceed the value of the axles and tires. Get a car cover for it and tie it on tight(thoose things flapping around can mess up a nice paint job EDIT And go on a nice day

I have heard some bad horror stories about the cover thing also. I dont think i will cover the car, it has a nice paint job on it. And no i dont think there is anyone who i can ask locally. I hate borrowing other peoples stuff, but that might be what this comes down to.

Wrap it in plastic and wrap the plastic with duct tape. Like the old saying goes about dirty woman, "Son wrap it tight" applys to wraping a car.
So you guys are talking about basically shrink wrapping the car? Would this not scratch it? I am not sure i could get it tight enough, so it would not come loose. I am going from ohio, to michigan, and there is tons of salt on the road.

any places nearby that shrink wrap boats??
other than that, Id leave it open, make sure theres some real decent flaps on the tow vehicle too.
I made a setup that slides over my ball mount that has two big truck mudflaps that go right to the ground. Sure it looks stupid and ugly, but I use it even with my enclosed to help with rock dings and whatnot. It helps things stay cleaner.
The boat thing is a good idea. I wonder what they charge for that? I need to make sure that there are good mudflaps also!

I thought about that also. I want to get it this sunday, but i want to be home for the superbowl. I would have to leave my house at 7AM and leave his house by 4PM. I would also have to drop the hammer in the truck, and hope the old county mounties are watching someone else.

I moved my stock 32 plymouth 1500 miles across the county on a open trailer in a ice storm with salt all over the roads before a left I went to home depot a bought 4 cans of wd40 and covered everything body wheels bumpers bottom etc. it was kind of a pain to wash off when I got home but even bare metal parts did not get rusty
that is interesting. I am glad that it worked for you! I will give that some thought.
