For the 1969 14" trim rings, the following is assumed to be correct?

- brushed finish
- inner lip
- round valve stem hole
- four clip mounting

My question is regarding the features on the outer lip. There are ones that are roughly 70%/30% with respect to the inner and outer step on the lip, and others that are more like 55/45 or 60/40 inner/outer. I've included a pic below with the 70/30 being on the left, and 60/40 on the right.

Which would be correct, and what is the application of the other?

Thanks!

I believe one is AMC and the other is Mopar, Brian Kapral knows the answer and restores them.

I thought the valve stem hole on the AMC rings was oval? And the GM ring, which is again the same design otherwise, has a slotted valve stem hole.

I have seen four ring styles:
- round hole 60/40 lip (???)
- round hole 70/30 lip (???)
- oval hole 60/40 lip (AMC?)
- slotted hole (don't recall if 60/40 or 70/30 lip) (GM?)

OK, thanks. My point in mentioning GM was to say that there is a GM ring (I don't recall which division) that has all the same features, except the valve stem hole.

Dan, do you know what characteristics are correct for the Mopar 1969 application?

Here's the best picture I could find right now of my old 69 R/T. It has a 70/30 outer lip and a round valve stem hole. I at first called it oval but it is round.

This thread may be of help. It has good pics of an original '69 trim ring (part# 2944161)

Perfect! Yes, those pictures of the 69 trim ring clearly tell the story. 70/30 it is. Since Dan posted it, I assume it is a confirmed original ring.

Just to confirm, the valve stem hole should be round, is that correct? I saw that mentioned in another Moparts thread that the holes should be round.

I'm still curious what the "60/40" ring would be for, as it is identical to the correct 69 trim ring in every other detail. I didn't even notice the difference until I started cleaning up some trim rings.

It sure isn't easy finding 100% confirmed correct examples in the Mopar / AMC world.

Thanks again!
