I know on 383 & 440 engines the fuel pump was installed and painted with the engine at the factory. I am preparing to paint and detail my 1970 Ebody 340 and I've been told that on the 340 the fuel pump was not painted. While I find that hard to believe, I'm not sure.

Can anyone provide information on whether the fuel pump was or was not painted at the factory on a 1970 Cuda?

Thank you

Okay, thank you...one other thing, were the dip sticks on 340's painted black rather than engine color?

Based on the picture, I guess plug wire looms unpainted as well?

Every engine detail in the picture is as factory correct as you will find anywhere (for a 71 A-body). 71 E-body had a different drivers side exhaust manifold. 1970 E-body had the same manifold as above. 1970 340's also had a different intake and an AVS carburetor rather than a Thermo-Quad

Here's a set of 1968-1970 340 Exhaust manifolds (all body styles)

Here is a 70 340 that is pretty close to factory correct.

Yep, and "Pretty close" ain't perfect, I'd also argue for an unpainted neg. battery cable on 70.

That is a beautiful engine! I am detailing a 1970 340 'Cuda (AAR). I've been more used to working on 383's & 440's and I'm finding out that what holds true for the big blocks surprisingly isn't true for the small block. Hope to paint my engine and begin detailing within two weeks. May have more questions if you don't mind?
