The Victor heads flow a ton of air but you'll run into a list of issues getting them to work. Short installed height is probably the most serious issue but pushrod clearance can be an issue and you'll need special rocker arms.

All in all I think it is easier to go the Indy way.

im sorry to here that Andy. i was really sold on the 440-1 and the EZ heads, but i really want to get away from indy if possible. as far as rockers that doesnt seem to be that big of an issue as hughes has what i need there and a fair price compared to T&D and Jesel for the indy heads. i found hughes rockers new on another site for $600. im assuming these vics are clearanced for pushrod because they have been run. also Andy the heads have been run with a large roller.

so, it looks like you had trouble with the rocker geometry? i was planning on using a flat tappet cam out of the gate, so what kind of issues will i have with pushrod clearnce?

Supposedly Trickflow is coming out with Max Wedge port heads. No idea on the timeline, though.

I'm on the 440 -1 and paired rocker boat myself after doing it once. I do think you could save a little money if you used my data and research to do up a set of Victors. I bought several sets of rocker arm studs, lots of valve spring retainers, and spent a ton of time

Parts needed to assemble heads:

Hughes CNC Ported MW Port Victors: 3031.50
B3 Racing Geometry Correction Kit: 180.00
Studs, McMaster Carr: 25.00
ARP Nuts/washers, 3/8-16: 20.00
Hughes Premium 1.7 Rocker kit: 834.00
Rocker Shaft Hold Downs: 68.00

Total = $4158.50

Looking for Indy 440 -1 prices is proving to be difficult. The Indy price list is out of date so no help there.

Anybody know a price on a set of CNC ported -1's with valves, machined for a paired rocker system like T&D or Jesel?

One thing I did notice is that the Indy -1's seem to have a much smaller combustion chamber than the Victors. I already have my pistons and the are 1.32CH, -12.5cc reverse dome and that might be an issue for a pump gas deal. If you are cool with race gas it might be the hot ticket.

A 5 gallon pail of C12 is about $100 around here and 110 leaded is 8.50-10.00/gallon. I used to drive to work on Sunoco 110 all summer at $2.60/gallon. How times have changed!

whats in the B3 geometry kit? how bad is the geometry with the hughes 1.6 rockers alone?

The sweep pattern would have to be checked through the lift you plan on using to be sure. Using 1.7 ratio rockers might be a little different.

If you use the B3 kit you will have to elongate the bolt holes in your rockers FYI. We used locators in the rocker shafts to help keep everything in the correct place.

Call BG Racing, Bob and AJ are on this forum. They can get you the Indy heads. From what Ive read, no actual experience with the Victors I would get the Indy's or the Trick Flow's and not the Victors. JMO. I have EZ-1 heads, running 9.90's with them, and I don't know what I'm doing.

Bob and AJ will help you. My 2 cents.

I bought the Hughes cyro treated 1.6 rockers for the Victor M.W. heads, the adjusters wouldn't hold up to roller cam spring pressures and 7000 RPM whiney I ended up replacing those adjusters with the best Manton adjusters availble and still had problems with the Hughes lock nuts coming loose runaway puke I ended up buying a set of Haralnd Sharp roller rockers for the Victor M.W. heads, no problems since with a lot of laps boogie Make sure and set the valves with the motor hot, not cold tsk shruggyBTW, my Victor M.W. are not CNC ported, stock out of the box. The 440-1 CNC ported are way better thumbs

Get Trick Flows and take them out to Max Wedge size yourself.

Trick Flow standard ports will get you into the 650 - 700 range at 11:1 compression.

Really. I thought it took something in the 350cfm/325cc range to get there with 500ci on pump gas? I havent keep up on the trick flow posts. How are the trick flow heads better than victors or indy 440-1 and ez?

Who did the CNC work? Are they the earlier 75cc version or the later 72cc?

Running Stock Port Size Victors on my 499 without any issues for quite a while. They are CNC ported from Hughes. I am using Harland Sharp 1.6 rockers and shafts, Roller Cam 280 / .714 lift with 1.6 rocker. Spring is k-motion 950. Never on Dyno, but many passes at Norwalk in 9.70's at 3585#s car is 68 GTX.

For the Money they work well. However if you need .800 plus lift and 850HP++ they are NOT the head to be looking at.

Also because the cam is not very large NO additional valve train geometry gymnastics were required. The rockers were bolted on, adjusted and ran.
