Have a buddy finishing a drag car that needs to update his yokes / driveshaft combo.

3300 lb car, 630 Hp now, probably down the road no more than around 800 Hp under the hood.........

727 trans / going to Dana 60 rear

1350 U joints the right size for this?

How about the the slip and pinion yokes?

I see them in iron /steel

Ductile Iron

Moly

Billet

Which yoke material would be the best value for the future power goals?

Thanks in advance help

Been running the 1350 stuff for 13+ years and they still look/feel great...........And the yoke is forged steel from Drdiff..........

1350s are fine. Use the good HD units, not the hollow joints with grease fittings.

I would use something like a Strange CM yoke, U1598, and a good slip yoke like the Strange U1666. These aren't the cheapest option, but it's less money than would you would spend to fix the car if the shaft comes out of it. I have a nice transmission here right now with expensive damage from a broken driveshaft. The HD forged parts are around half the money and may be fine for your application until you really step up the power level.

Make sure you figure shaft length with the parts you will be using. This stuff is not all made to the same dimensions.

I have had less than good luck using local sources for driveshafts for race cars. They may be fine for a shaft for an old pick up, but they just don't seem to get the RPM they are spun to in a race car. Your area may be different or you may opt to have someone like Strange, Mark Williams, Dynotech, Denny's or someone similar build your shaft.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Billet no problems ever, drag radials and nitrous. I've broken after market axles and no yoke problems

IF a new shaft is needed call Dyntech.. they have
all the different parts and will have yokes.. they
are the only place I deal with in the last 10 years
and they have great products and quality
