Happened Friday morning. The first 2, and the only 2 cars, to go down the track. Then they gave up until the afternoon. Lucky no one got hurt.

That's why I'm never the first guy down the track.

iagree You'd think they would have seen that much water on the track if they'd actually looked.

That could've very bad, the sad part is that the nhra don't care. There are two torn up dragsters and the circus will go on to the next town.

NHRA always sweeps and preps the track before any car goes down the track for the first time each day. You can see one of the Safety Safari guys run up to the concrete barrier and look at the second car real hard before opening the gate for the truck to go out to the wreck. I thought that maybe it was raining on the far end but the Safety Safari guys would have called the tower on thier radios to tell them that confused I have heard of some tracks(Speed World in Phoneix, AZ is one) that have probelms with water coming up through the track when the track warms up shruggy Bottom line is both drivers lost control after the finish line when they let off so something abnormal was on the track down there, more than likely work To bad, I hope no one got hurt at all luck

A lot of these tracks will weep water up through them after heavy rain. Can't do anything with it except wait for the water table to drop. Don't remember where it was, but I've stood on the fence and watched water squirt up out of a track like a water fountain after a hard rain.

Track was weeping and actually, if you look at the timing blocks, they both lost control right after the 1000'. Unless something has changed, with the fuel cars running to 1000', NHRA doesn't prep the national event tracks the same from 1000' to the 1320' because of damaging the tire they are running. "Chunking" was the term I remember them using. Top Dragster is as fast or faster than a Pro Stock. Shouldn't have happened.

Throttle stop cars are always interesting on those days. Get out there in the middle and roll the throttle back open and you need to pay attention to what it's doing. That's one of the reasons that a lot of those cars are run in high gear only when the stop comes back off.

IMO it was pretty stupid to send such fast cars down the track first pass of the day.

They tried to run Stock. They always stick those guys out there first when it's like that. But they couldn't get the cars out because the pits were so muddy and under water.

To say NHRA doesn't care, or never even checked the track is crazy. Of course they care and of course they checked the track. They HAD to prep it before turning cars loose, so of course they looked at it. With that much rain and the water table high, it just weeped up through the track. It doesn't take much water and it is very hard to see as it weeps through.

SGMP had the same issues with it weeping through the seams in the concrete and then it just lays there. Nearly impossible to see. But just a little water sprays a long way when a car runs through it. They dug ditches down the sides of SGMP and installed drains to try and help

Well when you can see the water coming off the tires not so sure how well they checked. And to start the day off with T/D time runs is ludicrous to say the least. Some of the fastest cars at a National Event are the T/D guys, someone dropped the ball big time telling them that track was safe for them to race on period!!
