I fixed the dipstick in my 727 a while back with the little tube piece with "top-hat" shaped seal.

For the life of me, I cannot find that part again. My father needs one for his 904

Anyone have a direct link?

Like this? Later model trucks used them too...

If the pic is too small..it's just for a 1997 with a 360, and it's part number on rock is ATP TO53.

I remember reading about it in a thread ages ago and had ordered some for a buddy of mine in Oz back then.

Why not save time and money and just take that part number to the local parts store. If they don't carry that brand they can cross reference it. shruggy I'd much rather support local businesses then mail order houses.

Agreed stumpy. I was going in to make sure and cross check that it fits. I believe dipstick diameter is the same for 727 vs 904

those don't fit old dipsticks.
I cut the end off a new dipstick and brazed it onto my old one to use the new seal.

The tranny opening is the same for the olders 727s and 904s as well as the later 500s and 518s, so that seal will work with our older trannies. But, as has been pointed out, the dipstick ends are different between the older O-ring ones and the newer ones that came with the seal.

But here's a thought: could you fill the O-ring groove with JB Weld and smooth it to use the newer seal with the older dipsticks?

Master, again and still

That looks like the stick tube seal for a 4l60e.. Replaced mine on a 1994 firebird. That might narrow your search.

that may be where i got my idea it may be [related to] a GM part. wonder if the id/od of either is close or matches ? i just measured a locking GM dipstick tube and it's .610 od. the rubber seal pressed on the tube is .795od. and .650 long to top flange of seal with a smooth[not ribbed] finish. this is a new locking replacement tube for multiple transmissions and applications i bought at a swap meet several years ago to disassemble and modify the locking part for a 727 tube and stick. i only paid ~ $1.50-2.00 for it. figured i couldn't go wrong for that price. i didn't have a mopar tube handy to measure. how do they compare ?
