Im in the market for an un bored 360 block for a build. I purchased a 72 block used but it had been sleeved and had other issues. I have come across an 88 roller lifter block(non magnum) and was wondering if it can be used with all the early stuff I have already purchased (camshaft, etc). The build will utilize w2 heads and solid flat tappet. I know the 88 block uses a roller lifter but still cylinder head/rocker shaft oiling. I just wasnt sure if there were any other differences related to the camshaft and lifter set up that may be an issue.

thanks
justin

Justin I think you are OK but consider this a BTT till you get definite confirmation.

Only major difference is the lifter bosses are taller on the 88 block, you can still run any flat tappet cam you want, with appropriate pushrods as well.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

roller block and flat tappet cam with W2 heads you will want to mock it up and make sure the PR don't touch the top of the lifter bore. If you run the hydraulic roller you will need to check for clearance of the PR to the intake port very carefully, probably clearance the heads then do your porting. Either way you will probably be stuck with 5/16 PRs... not the end of the world unless you want big RPM.

I plan on running a flat tappet solid which I have already purchased. It sounds like its doable but probable. Ill give it some thought . Either way I would have some mocking up to do.

thanks for the advice
