On my trunk lid and many other parts of my cuda body I have patches of rust. Should I sand just those areas down now and cover them with a bit of rustoleum or sand the whole thing down now and cover it with some anti rust oil?

Personally, I wouldn't touch it. Leave it as is. I'd rather see a little surface rust than spray bomb primer.

I was not going to spray bomb it, I was going to cover it with a coating of this stuff.

CRC 3-36 prevents rust and
corrosion by displacing and
sealing out moisture and by
forming a continuous protection
barrier against water and oxygen

that is alot better than letting it sit and rust away

I would sand them completely out now before the rust etches deeper. Properly prep, prime and even spry bomb a color close to what you have. Primered metal doeds not weather well without a top coat.

I agree, sand,seal/primer, spray a color on it..or use a very good primer/sealer product...primer alone is not a good sealer...and is that a tarp on it?...that's not a good thing for it either...holds in moisture...
