My buddy has a 1968 Dodge Charger, early build date.
He has a 383 4 barrel, it has a dual snorkel air cleaner. The "bell" on the top where the air cleaner stud goes through is small.

Can anybody post the correct air cleaner pie plate he needs for his air cleaner?

Any input at all appreciated!

383 4bbl Chargers did not originally have "pie plates"

He has a book called "Charger, Road Runner, and SuperBee Restoration Guide". It states they should have a pie plate, that's the only reason he is looking.
It's very early, has the second emblem on the roof panels etc. I can ask him when he gets back but not sure how to post pics until I get home.

No pie tins for that air cleaner. I think they do make a decal though.

AwEsOmE!! drool

I'll ASSUME it's a California car and correct as it appears, IMO a red & yellow "air filter care" decal on the side is all it should have.

In '69 CA 383-4bbl b-bodies had different air cleaners and/or mufflers to comply with their "noise reduction" wishes. realcrazy Not sure if '68 was the same.

& lots of errors in that book

The 17" unsilenced air cleaner that was used on 67 383 A-Body's were also used on early B-Body's. The base was different as there was a change from the AFB carb in 67 to the AVS carb in 68. I have seen a couple of survivor Chargers with that air cleaner. twocents Picture stolen off of the A-body Parts for sale section... whistling

The 383 68 Charger came with an unsilenced air cleaner with this pie plate.

That book is barely worthy of lining the bottom of a bird cage, I think it has more WRONG info than it has correct info.

My early build 68 Sport Satellite convertible 383-4bbl, that had a Langely AFB sticker on the front bumper and red clay all over the underside of it, had that exact dual snorkel air cleaner in the trunk when I got it.

Original, no clue? But I'm pretty sure it was considering how original everything else, except the paint, was.

Quite frankly I think you'll find there is no pie tin that will fit or even sit on your air cleaner.
Look at the picture of yours here and the picture below of one that takes a pie tin, and look at the lid contour differences.
The bevel on the one below accomodates the pie tin.
On yours that area is too tall and the bevel concave where wingnut rests, is much smaller.
