Still trying to decipher what decifer means.
They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.

stenciling on the tread of tires was used to identify it SWAG - "K1CU" K1 is the size F78-14 & CU is the type this format of IDing tires was implemented (DOT mandated?) during the 1971 calendar year, so a '70 model year tire may not have this stamping, unless BFG started stamping/changed format before/in preparation of the DOT mandate? Does your tire have a DOT/serial # code molded in the side wall? mine does not appear to have had any INK stamping on the tread, it does have serial # 4885A405-2 & is mounted on a 10/8/69 dated wheel stencil available on eBay

Didn't know that IDing the tire was a 1971 mandate either. the formatting of the DOT numbers was standardized and mandated to be implemented during the 1971 calendar year. Prior to that they were numbered, but the format was up to the manufacturer.
