My trans is slow to engage into drive. Oil and filter good, air checked the forward clutch from the case, seems to operate OK. What would be the result of broken accumulator springs. Any thoughts.

Are you talking about a short delay when you first drive it? Mopar converters drain into the trans pan when they sit for a while and it takes a second to refill when you put it in gear.

Yes it has always done that, this is something new, if I give it a stab on the throttle it seems to engage.

Little more info, I had the trans apart a few months ago and did clutches bands and seals, I air checked it at that time and it has been OK but recently started playing up. Haven't had it apart since.

Does it also delay engaging Reverse? If Reverse is OK and raising the rpm makes Drive engage there is a pressure problem at the rear clutch i.e. leakage at the seals or sealing rings.

Reverse is fine, the clutch didn't seem to leak when I assembled it but I guess something could have happened in the assembly. Would a problem with the accumulator reduce pressure enough to cause this or would I also see other problems as well.

What do you mean by Forward Clutch , front or rear ?

What do you mean when you say ... slow to engage into drive ? The application of 3rd when going down the road ?

I am speaking of the rear clutch assembly and it is slow to engage drive as in selecting first gear when placed in the "drive" position on the shifter. My thoughts are it can only be to do with the rear clutch assembly but I am not that up to speed with other things that are also connected with that circuit that could be having an effect.
