Anybody towed a tag trailer this big, any handling problems? I'm interested in a 32' tag trailer (bumper pull) with living quarters in the front. It has dual axles. It looks huge in the pics I've seen. I have a 1-ton crewcab dually to tow it. I don't have weight or GVWR numbers for it. Just wondering if this size trailer comes with handling problems. Thanks.

I pulled a 32 for a few years with no problems, but mine was a triaxle. I think it might be a little to much trailer for tandem axles.

You will have no issue with your truck but like stated above - that's way too much trailer for a dual axle. I pull a 28 ft tag with a dual axle and sometimes I wish it was a triple axle because of the length of the trailer, there is too much overhang out back and I drag the bottom in driveways and some hills.

I'd prefer a Gooseneck with something that long. Just personal preference.

And I agree with above, 2 axles is pushing it. I'd prefer 3.

Put a set of steel casters on the back to eliminate
the draging over some places... on my 43' fifth whel
I have 2 axles.. 10,000 pound axles... but the tires
are the limiting points.. I use the heaviest rated I
can get... I hope that truck is a diesel.. the LQ trailers
are fairly heavy once your all loaded

My brother has one that is the same size with dual axles (heavy duty axles what ever that means). He hauls a big tool box and golf cart up front and his hemi road runner in the back. Never had an issue with stopping or maneuvering it, but he did have one tire blow out on the interstate on the way back from Bristol. But towing it and you can't really tell it is back there. He does not drive it really fast as he is very cautious of some other idiot cutting him off.
He uses a dually with a Cummings.

I had a 32' triple axle tag with the smaller axles and it was a tire eating monster. I always carried 3 spares and used a LOT of them on long trips. I upgraded it to the larger axles, to get 16" wheels and better tires problem gone. That said, I would pass on a double axle 32' even if it had big axles. Too much trailer for two axles in my opinion...........that MIGHT be why it is for sale. Just a 32' box is one thing, but with living quarters and loaded?......it's going to be heavy.

I pulled a triple axle 33foot, with living quarters with a 99 dodge single rear tire diesel. I had to add air bags, and as someone mentioned it ate tires. I changed the 15 inch tires to 16 inch and it stopped eating tires. Truck pulled it OK, but on wet roads it sometimes was a handful to stop. Mine was a Halmark. I just traded it in and got a lighter 26 foot, and put a slide in pop top camper in the truck, 2,000 lbs lighter and the pop top camper is the same height folded down as the trailer fuel mileage went from 12 to 15 pulling.

Mine is 32 triple axle tag with 15" wheels. I pull with 95 Dodge 3500 dually. Pulls excellent. Truck also has a 1400 lb slide in camper. Tool, generator, 3100 lbcar, ocasional golf cart. I do have air lift bags on the truck. Stopping with the drum rear brakes (on the truck) you need to keep distance. I've pulled to Bowling Green KY 3 years straight no issues through the mountains. Amazingly enough it's way better on tires than my 26 ft dual axle ever was. One blowout in the last 3 years.

There is no such thing as a trailer that is too big. Or a shop.

Make sure the axles, wheels and tires will carry more than the gross weight rating of the trailer and that it has 16 inch wheels and tires, preferrably with eight lug wheels up twocents Then be ready to learn what way you need to drive and load it so it is safe for you to tow with it work BTW, get the best automatic electric brake controller for the trailer you can buy also. I haven't towed a tag trailer that long,I have towed and used several 24ft tag 10,000 GVWR, one 22 ft 7000 GVWR and one 36 ft 5th wheel 16,000 lb GVWR travel trailer that was near max weight rating loaded. No goose necks yet, maybe soon. The 5th wheel towed the best with my 2006 Ram 3500 4x4 crewcab CTD, barely knew it was back there once I got the brake controllers set thumbs work Good luck, have you looked at the 32 ft gooseneck in the adds on here work

Without knowing the price I would look elsewhere
because its a tag.. when getting that large and
2 axles I would want a fair amount of the weight
on the fifth wheel/goose neck to help the tires
out.. if you can find a goose neck you might want
to go that way VS a fifth wheel.. on the goose they
make ones that drop down below the bed which opens
up the whole bed when not in use... unlike a fifth
wheel which has that in the bed all the time(or at
least the rails that the unit mounts on which mine
has but I dont bother taking it off)

once you get to that length...just go GN triple axle....as said...NO SUCH THING AS TOO BIG for a trailer.......

53' long extra height(Can walk upright next to the bed)....we'll NEVER go back....

I bought a 26' dual spread axle from Intech, and I should have bought a 28' triple axle trailer, but I am going to buy the "Trailer Toad" 5K pound tongue system, and that is what most of the stacker guys are running to take off the high tongue weights off of their trucks or motorhomes.

A 30' trailer would have been best for me, but towing that behind a 36' motorhome is just too long for me to deal with...

So, if you get the 32' trailer, make sure it has the heavy duty triple axles, and the Trailer Toad", because as soon as you install your generator, pit bikes/golf cart and tools, your tongue weight will be very high.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll keep looking for a gooseneck. My last trailer was a 44' gooseneck, no living quarters, just a big box of air with a few cabinets at the front. The truck (F-350 7.3 diesel) has a gooseneck hitch.
Pic is the 32' I was thinking about.

The living quarters must be 8 x 8 maybe at the most. Just enough room for a bed and toilet. I have a 28 footer and wish I had triple axles. I did cut the wheel boxes and the outer sheet metal to ad larger tires and 16" wheels.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

18' for car & 14' for LQ with all the usual stuff. Shower/toilet, frig, microwave, cook top, sink, fold-out couch & table.
Not a lot of room for he car but mine would fit.

I had my 32'LQ trailer built in 2004 and while it does sway some when you hit cross winds it has never been a problem. With my 69 D200 pickup in it I had it weighed at 11,200 lbs! eek
