Just want to give a shout out to my son Steven for finally getting around to getting his Competition license this weekend at LVMS. We purchased a dragster for him at the end of 2014 since he said that's what he wanted. We bought it T/K and had a little issue with it, then the wife and I had to move to DC so it has taken some time to get it back up and running. I build a 446 for it with stuff that was ling around the house and we finally got it in the car last September. It has been to a few races with different drivers since then as I wanted to make sure it was all good before he got in it. So finally the stars aligned and he had some time to go out and get licensed. He works hard and a lot of hours so time is always an issue. He had some little issues he will get ironed out with seat time, burnout etc but he got all his license passes done on Saturday. His mother and I were nervous wrecks especially since we could not be there. But we left him in the care of Curtis(afxcoronet here)who has three kids in juniors and some other watchful eyes to help him out. Well he asked me if he should race on Sunday, I told him heck yeah seat time is the best way to get comfortable in the car. So he entered S/Pro on Sunday. He has never entered ANY bracket race before. At any rate he won first round, even backing into his opponent at the strip His lights Sunday were .003, .013, .004 and then unfortunately -.005. Anway he had a big grin all weekend once he got over his nervousness and now is officially licensed to race the long car.. Congrats to Steven and want to thank Curtis, Jay(jbody), his GF Tiffany, her boss Alcohol Racer Nick Janic, who also signed his license and his sister Sarah and fiancee' Chris for being out there to support and root him on. Hope this is the beginning of a long fun successful racing life.

AL That is awesome. You are so lucky to have a son that wants to drag race too. That car looks as long as a freightliner.

Congratulations to you both. I enjoy nothing more in life than spending time at the track with my Son and watching him race. Great times.

Did he race Jr. dragsters? Some of those kids used to give us fits once they got in a big car. 6 or 7 years experience racing, hand to eye coordination and concentration from video games and the reflexes and eyesight of a 16 year old.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Thanks for the responses so far. It has been a good week for me personally for sure. Bought a new hotrod, my Broncos are headed to the SuperBowl and my kid got his license. My kid never ran juniors. He was a baseball player through HS and could have played in college as well. Baseball was out life for a number of years. He is 26 now and very busy at work so does not have the time. Also he wanted a dragster not a door car, so I finally caved and got one. I am not an engine on a stick guy at all believe me. I prefer my doors When he entered S/Pro on Sunday it was the first time he ever entered a bracket race. He has run the Camaro at test and tune and grudge nights but this was his first shot at competition. I am sure he will do well given time. He has a lot of focus and if he has the "want to" will do well. If he can find the time and if dad continues to fund the deal. For now it will be local racing and learning to drive the stripe. Also gonna be with the baby motor for a good while. It is just a pump gas 446, nothing special but has been 5.30's in the 1/8th with other drivers. He had a ton of support out there for sure. Funny thing is now his girlfriend wants to get her license, so does my oldest daughters fiancee', neither of whom have ever been down a track. So I am doing my best to bring in new people
