Hey gang..
I have these two Federal pumps.. I'm getting ready to clean them up and use the one with the larger diameter pulley (5.5" diameter) on my '68 Hemi Charger R/T. I was told this was an original hemi pump. Two things I've noticed though observing other restored Hemi cars is the low-pressure side on all of them are on the side pointing down and back, not up like these...

Anyone have pics for comparisons of the '66-'68 pump and pulley and the '69-'71 pump and pulley. 6bblgt had some great pics of a '70. I see there are reproduction pulleys out there, but they all state the applications are from 69 to 71 with the 6.25" diameter pulley. Now what was the diameter of the '66-'68? Is it the 5.5" I have? The other pump in the picture has an even smaller diameter pulley..

In a nutshell, I'm trying to see what came on my '68 b-body (Charger R/T)..

Thanks in advance...

If I recall, 68 hemi pumps were the same as any other big block pump. In 1969-up they used that big pulley that has more offset than a slant six pulley (but about the same diameter). My 68 hemi gtx has a std pulley on it, and I have no reason to believe that it has been replaced. I think Chrysler went to the bigger pulley to slow down the PS pump at high rpm!!

Thanks Danan... Do you have any pictures of it? I wanted to verify that the low-pressure nipple is supposed to be on the top of the reservoir housing like in the pictures I posted...

Guess the hard part now is finding the correct bracket.. Nice to know they are "common" big block brackets and not special for a hemi............

hi Troy,
I'm literally half a world away from my car right now, but that looks correct to me. Actually, the HARD part is finding a hemi power steering hose! I need two of them. If you know of anyone repoping them, please let me know!

I have a extra one in my stash, but it has a different pulley. Looks about the same o.d. but has a very deep offset. Also on the pump you are looking for what size return do you need? Mine are 3/8 and th pictures you posted look to be 1/2. I think I have a N.O.S. power steering cap with the s on it somewhere around here also.

My '68 Roadrunner has one of those deep offset stamped pulleys as well. I've seen a few other '68 hemis with the pulley mine has, and others with the other pulley.
Apparently, the deep offset ones are actually '67 hemi pulleys by part number and they must have used leftovers well into '68 on some cars. I had to replace my damaged pulley several years ago, and that was the conclusion I came to after a good bit of research.
