I found this manifold. It is marked Chrysler and has a part number. It has never been bolted on a car. Is there any way to tell if it is a very old part or a newer part similar to ones you can buy from Summit and similar places? Also am I missing something from the bottom of the intake as seen in the pics? thank you

Original.

You are missing the baffle that keeps oil from splashing on the heated exhaust crossover & the two tap in rivets that hold it in place.

Thank you. Is that baffle unique or can I use one from something else.

I had one of these intakes brand new in the box from edelbrock, and it has the holes and looks the same but didnt come with the shield, I have never actually seen what the shield looks like, someone told me it comes in a 6 pack gasket set, but I have never seen one in any gasket set either.. I am curious to actually see one, the motor we did went together with out it, I was going to make one out of sheet metal but the builder said not to waste my time.

Thanks TA, for some reason I was picturing something more than a flat plate. SO basically a piece of sheet metal and 2 button head rivets... pretty simple...

The edges have a slight bend, hard to see in the photo, so visualize a 'picture frame' type outline.

thanks for your help. I understand why the edges are beveled and making one is pretty simple. Do you have any idea where I could get the tap-in rivets? I guess a last resort would be to drill and tap the holes and use a bolt.

Probably Au-Ve-Co for the rivets, many hardware stores have their boxes on the shelves.

On my stock 340 intake I removed the plate, cleaned it up and tapped the holes and installed bolts.

iagree Did the same. Has an intake burn a hole thru the heat crossover and had to weld it up under the plate. Made a custom plate to fit the welded patch.

Back in about 1975 a friend of mine bought an AAR pretty cheap because it had a "blown engine". When he tore it down he found that plate had come loose and was bouncing around on the lifters. It was a pretty inexpensive engine rebuild.
