Well I sold my dart in 2012, and I am bored. so I am going to build up my Plymouth and go play. The dart ran 10.70's, so I would like to pick it up a notch. I have a 440 core, which would have to do considering the current availability of new blocks, but I am considering the Gen III stuff. I want streetable, overdrive, 9's at 3900 lbs. Would you build a stroker BB- normally aspirated or boosted, or jump on the Gen III stuff and see what you could get done? I am leaving out some details on purpose, not out of ignorance....

I would get a crate hellcat motor and call it done.

Im driving this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cb9FbDUWBLQ around and it is a menace, loud and unhappy, always waiting for the police to give me grief, to make things worse I have fitted a tunnel ram so it's faster. The way to go these days is turbo, a mild 440 with big single turbo.

The way to go these days is turbo, a mild 440 with big single turbo. That is one of the things I miss about the dart. It was a 493 normally aspirated. Kinda liked the unrefined brawler feel, but it wasn't much for a road trip. I had a procharger on the 440 in the Plymouth, but blow thru carbs suck, and blow by rings suck even worse. I was running on an OEM 1978 long block. It is fine under normal circumstances, but is turns into an oil leaking W**re under boost. I am with everyone so far, boost is good if your prepped for it. The crate hellcat is a little pricey for what you get I think. Maybe its just me.

Longest road trip for me with this 528 has been 120 miles, cost me $120 in fuel LOL

Here, everything is an hour or more away. 4:10's and a stroker gets abusive pretty quickly. I planned on at least getting a gearvendor overdrive unit, but it never happened.

3900 lbs. is going to break a lot of things, including things that aren't supposed to break.

I'm 4,400lbs with 630lbft.... I'm sure my drivetrain hates me.
Good luck with fabbing an exhaust with that car. These full frame jobs are vastly different than the unibodies.

If I had money to burn on the project it would be all wheel drive, turbos, big block . Without the all wheel drive it would be a slip and slide ride. 1500+ hp out of a 528 going through a diesel trans/driveline comes to mind. As long as the tires aren't too sticky,(broken parts) it ought to be a hoot to drive. I would see if all this could be stuffed into a modern Challenger.

From the way you describe your goal, I'd say a boosted mild big block or Gen 3 is the way to go.
As long as you have a Dana 60, a good driveshaft, a well built 727, and a good converter...breakage really shouldn't be an issue even at that weight.
