Thinking about pulling my dash again to correct 3 small things that most would never be bothered by and at this time wanted to know real world experiences with having these pieces restored.

Presently all the outer edges are paint penned and would like to have that re-chromed.

I've used CGAR years back but to be honest he was super slow and then after many months just blew the job out in a week. The chrome portions were perfect but what he did black was so-so.
This set up doesn't have any Black involved so???

Who else/where else is there a good place for this work or should I just bite the bullet again and down the car for 5 months?
Thanks Ron

On my 73 charger I used CV Vacuum Platers back in 2005 or so. They did a real good job on the chrome. The woodgrain was ok. I ended up redoing the woodgrain myself. I`m not sure if they are still around.

I used Instrument Specialties in RI to do the complete dash on my 71 Charger R/T and they did an amazing job. The problem is they're really busy so it's probably a 5-6 month process.

Got me a NEW Project

Original transmission and Dana - Engine is a service replacement block.

Body has all stamped #s + VIN/TRIM tag and door sticker. Been hunting like all hell to find the Build Sheet.

CV Vacuum Platers are gone, they were the absolute best years back. They were able to stay on schedule too.

I used them, real nice people to deal with. Chrome was nice but quality control was a little questionable. Had to send a couple pieces back to be repainted as the way they did them did not match each other. Took care of the issue with no problem though

I used vacuum ornamental and was really pleased. The price and time for completion were spot on. I was actually going to use instrument specialties, who I have heard are terrific people and do an outstanding job, but was in a bit of a pinch and could not wait there several months. That's when I tried vacuum ornamental. You know that we (mopar restorers) are in a great situation when we have multiple great company's to restore our parts.

Either Mike at Instrument Specialties in Rhode Island, or Steve at Advanced Plating in Nashville Tenn, either place quality work....

Why not have alternate dash pcs done, and just change out with your existing pcs when their done, rather than laying the car up...

The other issue is the woodgraining, you'll need that reproduced, as no one reproduces the "hot plate" trim technique that the factory used to plate just the trim ring and leading frame edges, the entire piece will be vacuum metalized in aluminum
