I got a VIN plate transfer set and now need to find suitable base coat for my VIN plate. What works best?

No that's not mine. That's the picture from ECS' ad.
All the paint is gone from mine.

any semi gloss black should be fine. You dont want flat or gloss.

How about the matte finish krylon over the finished paint and transfer? Anything better than krylon available?

here's how i did mine it came out sweet.
if you have access to a sand blaster just blast it clean throw on some satin black krylon and let it dry for a few days and do the ink transfer.

Never blast the tag. chemical strip only
