So I have a 67 440 block with 906 heads. I am priming the oil system and have 45psi on a gauge. I am not getting oil to the rocker shafts. FYI the shafts and rockers are old Isky ductile units. I pulled the hold down at the # 4 bolt and see no oil. Dose the cam need to be in a certin position to line up with the holes in the cam bearing? Hopefully I dont need to pull the heads. Shouldent the hole in the head go all the way to the galleys in the block? Am iI missing something?

Rotate the crank and you should get oil up to the rockers unless the rocker shafts are blocked.

Yep. There are two crank positions that send oil up to the heads--one for each side.

turn dampener till the slit is at TDC (on #6 compression) & preoil. turn dampener 3/4 of a turn back CCW & preoil again. 3/4 of a turn is 17.082" and you can cut a thin strip of white notebook paper to that length to use as a ruler

and put a towel or the rocker covers over the shafts to avoid oil all over the fenders (damhik).
