I posted this in the truck section but not a creature is stirring there tonight.

I just acquired a 93 W150 with a plow in great shape considering where I live.

It went through our mandatory mechanical fitness inspection needing nothing more than a minor exhaust repair but the tranfer case shifter felt strange, pulled stiff and you couldn't feel the detents so I had my shop check it out.

He said there was some bushing gone that he patched up with some kind of tubing and a clamp ( I haven't been under it to see). It shifts nice from 2H to 4H and back but he said the fix might not allow going to 4L.

So the question is, what might have been slipping and is there still dealer parts available to rebuild the linkage?
