I'm getting ready to put my 1966 Dodge Deluxe Cornet street car back together, it has the stock dual headlamps in it. Which of the newer style headlamds are best for street driving, especially at night when the deer are out a lot around here help I haven't kept up with the technoloxy on the newer styel headlamps, Halogen compared OEM, and some of the newer brighter styles I don't even know the names of confused help
Thanks in advance for the help bow

Using halogens in the Charger made a noticeable difference. Adding the relay made another noticeable difference. up
(BTW, I only did the hi-beam relay as 99% of my sons driving is in-town.)

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

I really like the Hella (or Cibie) European headlights with replaceable bulbs. H4 for the low beam, H1 for the highs.

I run 80/100 watt bulbs in the lows, and 100 watt bulbs in the highs. This combo practically sets the roadside brush on fire.

They make H1's in wattage higher than 100, I see the vendor listed above has 130 watt versions.

I would stick with genuine Hella bulbs. I'm also not a fan of blue, yellow, or other colored bulbs. Your mileage may vary.

The low beams have a sharper cutoff than traditional American headlights, allowing you to run really hot bulbs without blinding oncoming traffic if they are properly adjusted.

It goes without saying that relays and larger wiring are mandatory with this setup.

Good luck!

Cab the LED lights would not need the relay upgrade as they use so little power.
The Hellas would need the relay upgrade, i have two sets of the Hella light sets on my
truck and on my car they work well as stated earlier, with their sharp cut off lines other drivers are not affected by them as I rarely get highbeamed even though I see much better with them than halogens.

A good headlight relay kit and 5-10 each halogens, H5001 & H5006 make a huge difference over the stock wiring/headlights. It's a big change. One of my relay kit customers told me last week his 70 Challenger with this set up is better at night than his newer Challenger. Just because a light is "bright", doesn't mean your eyes will benefit from it.

I see on the attachment on the Hella that is states for offroad use only here in the U.S.A. workI remeber a guy getting a ticket Victorville, CA for having European headlights in a car that he brought back from Germany back many years ago. The local Police, Sheriffs and OR State Police don't seem to be after the(money work) local cars that way up here work
I should have stated that I don't mind adding a relay and bigger feed wires to the lamps but I do want a bolt in direct replacement lamps, not a kit to convert to a non seal beam aplication like the newer cars are now help Thanks for all the help so far thumbs
I think I bought and installed G.E Halogen seal beams in my old street Duster but I never drove it before with the regular seal beams so I'm not sure how much differences there where between the two confused I almost never drove it at night either confused This car will be the same way, drive it now and then to the local cruises in the good weather and offer it up for sale next fall so I can make room to finish another street car I have in the works. I have way more projects than money ,time or ambition realcrazy shruggy

Here's my take, for what it's worth: with new cars getting brighter headlights, and with more of these new cars with brighter headlights hitting the streets every day, your chance of getting a ticket with Euro headlights gets slimmer with every new car that rolls off the lot. Of course, this doesn't mean you can drive around with high beams ablaze, or stay under the radar with badly misadjusted headlights. I had a daily driver fitted with these things beginning in the mid 80's, when bright headlights were far more noticeable, and never had so much as a brush with the law. It might be different where you live, so take that opinion for what it's worth.

BTW, other than wiring and relay upgrade, these things are a bolt in deal.

Good luck!
