OK, being I wanted to redo this right the first time, I purchased a used Street Avenger 660 and rebuilt it. Full throttle the thing is scary fast but part throttle and idle is horrible. It surges and misses like no ones business.
I borrowed a Holley 750DP from a friend and the car runs better. So, I have to buy another carb, preferably a Holley, cuz that's what's was on it new(in 1970).

It is:
383 - 4 speed, 9.5:1 compression, PS, shorty headers, 2.5" Pypes exhaust with X pipe and a 2" spacer(which I used cuz the carb and fuel lines would not fit it).

I don't care about stock, or fuel mileage, something that will not be over carbed and make nice HP. I'd like to keep it around $400 if possible. I haven't looked just yet, I'm just happy the thing runs better now, but the 750 will have to go back the owner sooner or later.....thoughts?

No thoughts on the carb situation but I would love to see a picture of the car

Really hard to beat the street/strip carbs from Quickfuel
They have a version of the old Holley 3310 that is reasonably priced for a brand new carb with electric choke and adjustable secondaries

Summit, Jegs and QF all show the same price, QF charges shipping, so its a toss up. $437 delivered....The 750 is cheaper, however....

Do a QF 750 DP. Why bother with a VS?

FWIW.... I ran a 750 Holley Dp on my 383 4-speed car with no problems. I did have a old(1972) Street Hemi cam in it

The 750 has only the most basic features that's why it's so inexpensive. I prefer a metering block on the secondaries,and the 4-corner idle is a very nice feature.

Yup, that's the one.

For the money, it looks like the QF carbs have adjustable secondarys, which the Holley does not. Also viewable float bowls.
I had thought of a Demon carb, but for features, it looks like the Quick Fuel is better.
I have some time to ponder this, my bonus from work will pay for at least $250 of the cost, I think, by months end.
My daughter, who's in Florida just had her Reliant towed again. It just cost me $1700 the last time...so I'm looking forward to another bill..the tow alone was $200....so it looks like after the new year I can do something.

I have a Quickfuel 1050 carb on my car and it was almost perfect out of the box. I just jetted it up a bit and set the base idle mixture and it runs like a tornado, I give it half throttle and it seems too fast Then I mash it all the way and whoever is in the passenger seat is looking for something to hold onto

Yeah, unfortunately my daughter loves the Reliant and doesn't want to give up on it. I told her another $500 and that's it.

I may just bite the bullet and get the 780. Amazon.com has it for $416 and I already have Prime, so it's free ship....just have to make sure I'm not taxed or its back to Jegs...lol.
