If its dragging on the body, or the latch is stiff, giving it a swift semi hard kick might open it. Once you get it open, figure out what caused the problem and fix it before to slam it closed. You might not get another chance.
Those Jeeps are really good at wearing out the pin on the door hinges, which lets the door sag, after a while, it either breaks the hing, tears the hing away from the body, rips the stud out of the door post or mangles the latch from beating it against the stud. Usually, just before it ceases function, it will bind up once or twice. I've fixed all 4 issues, any one, or any combination of them, (including all 4 on the same door!) many times over the last several years.
My bet is, once the door opens, its going to drop a couple inches once it clears the latch. Gene
