Anyone following these heads knows how "difficult" it has been to get Edelbrock to actually make them. I have been the staunch bitcher, contacting them twice monthly for almost a year. My "persistence" finally got to Eddie L. who personally went and took pictures of my heads being run and then shipped out!! Yep, finally getting them. This one is done. I ordered a bare set with CNC porting.

$1600-$1700 for a SINGLE HEAD... sure isnt cheap by any means I guess it all depends on how you look at it. You could buy a set of RPM's for $900-ish and have them CNC ported and be in them for $1400-ish each. They will never flow anywhere near what the Victors will, nor make the power the Victors can. Is it overkill for a 400 HP 340? Absolutely. These were intended for big cube small blocks or high RPM engines. I still say for a fully CNC ported head, they are very reasonable on price, and compared to Indy 360's, a bargain, considering this is a far superior head.

I was running ported W-9s in my race junk and on the street rod I use either W-2s or W-5s ported but the street rod is only 600hp

Not trying to stir the pot but honestly want to know (I must be missing something) You can get the indy top end with intake, rockers, head bolts and gaskets for $3500 from hughes, how is $3400 for just heads a better deal? Does anyone honeslty know yet if they flow an extra 30 CFM or something? I am not a fan of Indy so I would love to hear the advantages...

The Victor is roughly $600 more for a full CNC port, better flow numbers and power potential, without having to deal with Indy. That to me is a waaaay better deal. Was told by Edelbrock, "...over 360 cfm @ .600...". We'll see....

What rockers do the SB victors use? Hughes is the only one at the moment making them. I'm sure T&D and Jesel will follow suit. Im pushrod oiling and milling stands. I'm having Crower stainless rockers made.

If the flow numbers are correct I don't know if you can get an Indy head to flow that much and no way with a 225cc intake runner which is what Hughes has listed. Also Indy rockers have a reputation for breaking with roller spring pressures so it's going to be another $1000-$1400 for rockers anyway. If a guy was starting from scratch it appears to me IF everything about them is true they are a better head than the Indys IMO.

They come fully CNC ported from Edelbrock at that price.

I hope for the best. That makes two of us! Gen 3 Hemi blocks won't take the power I make. I chose the R3 route for block durability at high cylinder pressures and HP. Finally a current head with great flow potential to make that power. I have no problem jumping in first. I've dealt with more Mopar race part fitment/machining/casting issues than I care to think about. I'll give the Eddy's a shot.

The Indy top end package is unported .Additionally the rockers in that kit aren't up to the task of handling a roller cam. If those eddies flow and perform like we are hearing , they will be a bargain long term.

Westside. My shop works exclusively on late model Mopars. Don't mess much with the old stuff, unless you want EFI or a Gen 3 Hemi, etc. The www.CJDAUTOMOTIVE.com site always works. SRP is down for a revamp. Just haven't finished the updates and taking a break from the holiday calls that want recommendations and advice for Holley EFI, but never buy!
