No need test have shown the MSD and other coils actually don't work as well as stock

By reducing the plug gap, the coils can handle a lot more cylinder pressure. Every little miss fire on a factory engine causes emissions they have to clean up, plus a touch of lost mileage. With that in mind, I bet they are as good as my 4.6 Mustang coils, and with tighter gaps those coils have handled a lot of boost. I run 7.5 PSI with the gap at .035, have for 50,000 hard miles.

I have never seen a stock hemi coil go bad, tons o ford coils go bad. I also don't see how you can improve on something proven to work so well.

One thing to remember is a single-cylinder coil has one or two engine revolutions to charge up between spark events.
R. And they run cooler than a coil sparking 4 times per revolution.
They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.

I THINK Firecore had some in testing mode. They gave an extra 5 HP on the dyno that they were tested on. This was years ago, not sure what happened, or if they made it into production.

Actually, the new ones are 73% hotter. Mancini should still have some in stock. We have them on some Super Stockers. You can open that gap back up...
