Anyone use aftermarket coils? Any noticeable improvements?

I've seen people run the factory coils to over 1000rwhp. I don't see a need for anything else.

Plus, the aftermarket is significantly more expensive. I'm running $20 a piece junkyard coils on mine without issue.

No need test have shown the MSD and other coils actually don't work as well as stock

By reducing the plug gap, the coils can handle a lot more cylinder pressure. Every little miss fire on a factory engine causes emissions they have to clean up, plus a touch of lost mileage. With that in mind, I bet they are as good as my 4.6 Mustang coils, and with tighter gaps those coils have handled a lot of boost. I run 7.5 PSI with the gap at .035, have for 50,000 hard miles.

I have never seen a stock hemi coil go bad, tons o ford coils go bad. I also don't see how you can improve on something proven to work so well.

One thing to remember is a single-cylinder coil has one or two engine revolutions to charge up between spark events.

And they run cooler than a coil sparking 4 times per revolution.

They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

Doesn't Firecore do coils for these engines now? Has anyone tested them?

I THINK Firecore had some in testing mode.
They gave an extra 5 HP on the dyno that they were tested on.
This was years ago, not sure what happened, or if they made it into production.

Actually, the new ones are 73% hotter. Mancini should still have some in stock. We have them on some Super Stockers. You can open that gap back up...

Is there a difference between 5.7 and 6.1 coils?
