In a 440 ci cross ram combo anyone have any experience with a camshaft that worked exceptionally well? How much compression did the combo have? Cam specs? Weight? Performance? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

I ran the old Isky 616/590 split duration solid lifter cam in my old bracket crossram 440 amd 426 motors, it was ground on 104 LSA and I would install it at 99 to 101 on the intake lobes thumbs That was using the old TRW, Speed Pro 11.25 to 1 pistons with the "286" (1962/1963 heads)M.W. heads(probally a true 11.0 to 1 comp. ratio confused) and both the 3447 and 3705 carbs. on the 1963 intakes up The bracket car weighed over 3750 lbs with me in it and the class car weiged about 200 lbs less, 8 3/4 and no cage. The bracket car had a Dana 70 in it with a full 12 point mild steel cage and sub frame connectors and so on shruggy The bracket car ran a best of 11.0 and the class car ran a best 11.20s back in the late 1980s shruggy The class car had a Mopar brand 2.77 low gear set in the 727 with 4.56 gears with lightweight spool in the 8 3/4 using 9x30 bias tires, the bracket car had a standard first gears set in the 727 and 5.13 gears with a posi in the Dana 70 and 12.25x31.25W Firestone slicks, those W tires are a lot bigger and heavier tire than the NHRA legal 9 inch Firestone tires where on the stocker shruggyI'm sure Isky will still grind you that cam scope It worked really well thumbs
IHTHs thumbs

Honestly its tuff to say without knowing the complete eng build. Sounds like what CAB used worked nice in his build. But you could give Dwayne Porter a call and tell him the build and get his opinion. I could tell you what to use as I think I am pretty good at knowing cams but I am not a Pro like Dwayne who does it everyday for a living. Not trying to sound smart as I am only recomending you do what I did as Dwayne speced my cam and I love it. And it was no more money then an off the shelf cam. And its free to talk to him as you cant ask to talk with a nicer person who will take the time to listen to you. Here is his phone # if you want to talk with him and best of luck with it what ever you decide. Ron

Hi Ron when it comes time for the nut cutting Dwayne will definate be the one that does the cam. I am just looking for performance examples and trends. The combo will be the new trick flow heads with the A&A cnc ported 440 intake 3705 afb carbs, 11 to 1 compression and tti 2" headers. 4200-4500 stall and 4.10 gear. It will all be going in a 63 savoy. Hoping for a 3500 to 3600 lbs with me onboard. I weigh 200lbs

My father ran a 440 combo in his '62 dart. It was a flat top zero deck 440, stage 2 max wedge heads, crossram w/ .750 holleys, model J converter, .590 purple shaft, 4.88 rear. Ran consistent 11.30's. It was a good combo.

And I believe this is the 62 Dart that Jacks is talking about that is his dads. He still has it as I took this pic of it about 3 or 4 years ago. I think it is a different eng in it now though but its still a very cool Dart. up Good luck with it Danny. wave Ron
