I have a BB 400 that has been bored 60 over so i figure the bore is 4.40.
I am looking on Summit and they have 2 performance head gaskets.
One is felpro 1009 for a bore of 4.41 and has a pre-flattened wire ring.
The other one is the felpro 1105 for a bore of 4.59 and no mention of the pre-flattened wire ring.

I assume i need the 1009 but thought i would ask the guru's.
Can you give me a hand selecting the right ones?
Thanks.

Those numbers are the gross size not the bore size I believe. 4.59 would be .095 back from the bore.

the 1009's fire ring will hang out in the bores. try a 1039. also, you may be able to get by with an 8519.

The BB with 5 bolts per hole holds head gaskets well. I run the standard blue Felpro on my 400/496 @ 4.375". Has held up fine.

The inexpensive PT-8519 should work if compression is under 11:1.
I think the bore size is close to 4.50".

Ok. Here is a little more info on the motor.
400 Block bored 60 over.
4.15 Stroke. I believe this all comes out to 505ci.
When we ordered the pistons I had a choice of 10:1 or 12:1. I went with the 12:1 hoping that my cam selection would help drop some of the cyl pressure.
Trick Flow 240 aluminum heads.
I'm looking to use a solid flat tappet cam: comp cam 23-232-4 which has int duraration of 244 @ .050.
The car will be driven to shows and raced with the car club a few times a year just for fun.
I know this is a lot of information just for head gaskets. I don't mind buying the more expensive gaskets if that is what I need to do.

Actually that amt of info is fine bro, first thing I'd do is decide what octane you will be running (or willing to run) then how wild or mild of cam can I live with then see what DCR I need to achieve for that & be conservative as gas quality ain't gettin any better & you NEVER want any pinging & there is silent ping so give your self a cushion and you want room to run a good ign curve (you never want to compromise the ign curve to avoid pinging because the DCR is too high & that bandaid usually dont have much of an effect there anyhow) and if you can get quench & maintain the SCR you need it is an excellent bennie. plug your choices into Wallace racings' calculators

12:1 and a small cam will make a lot of cylinder pressure. i'd use the 1039 gasket. i've used this gasket on 470's and 500 low deck/alum heads with good results. the 8519 may hold up, but the 1039 fire ring is more comfortably away from the cylinder bore
