Can someone post pics and details of original 69 1/2 Road Runner and Super Bee hood pins? I need the details of the hood pin themselves(the shape of the top of it) and the correct style of the clips.
Known originals would be the best please.
In the original adds for these the picture shows the clips to stand up but I have seen them flat also. Maybe the add shows pre-production clips but they were changed to the more common 1970-71 style for production? I have also seen the pins to be same as the 1970 and newer but have seen them to also to be more"pointy"
Please help me get this right.

Someone did a side by side comparison just a week or so ago.

OK, I have the Roger Gibson part. It looks as if the pins are correct. By what I see the loop in the clip does in fact "stand up" when installed in the pin?
The reason I ask is the car was knocked 1 point at the Nats this year for incorrect hood pins. The pins were wrong by these pictures but the clip was correct.
The ICCA B body manual shows the clip not to stand up and I talked with Dave Wise about this and he has done research to show the clip should not stand up. Scott Smith and Paul Jacobs agree with Dave also.
Could there have been a change on this during production?

If you're talking 1969 A12 RR/Super Bee then they are wrong in they should lay flat. THE 69 (1/2) A12 PACKAGE HAS STAND UP HOOD ("HAIR PIN") PIN CLIPS!!!

I could go on and on but someone has the facts incorrect. Are you sure that was the reason? Those guys you listed are the best in the books and I know that they know what is correct. There may be more to this because I know these guys have judged several members here A12's and they were not docked for upright A12 hood pin clips...right Paul

Sounds like you have done your homework......Thanks for all your help. Unless someone can prove differently, I will install Frank's pins as sent.

I have an update from Dave Wise....He has been doing more research on this since I asked him last week and also agrees with all of you that from the factory the pins "stand up".As the ICCA manual states, "This area is still under review". Looks like it can now be out to rest.
Thanks to everyone for doing the research to make sure this is correct!!!

Are you sure you spoke to me about this???? I don't ever remember talking to anyone about hood pins recently, but they definately stand up, I wouldn't have even hesitated on that question! If you have anymore questions feel free to call me, 812-963-5219.
