Just run stock SRT8 6.1 lifters. They'll take 8000 rpm all day long. There isn't a good replacement yet.

They went up a bunch a few years back. They used to be $100-150. I'm surprised that they are sub $200

Is there any difference between a non MDS 5.7 lifter and the 6.1 lifters?

I think Mopar changed part #'s to include non-MDS and 6.1 under the same #.
These are Johnson Hylift versions with full circlips, which is a nice addition even to factory lifters.

If those are truly a domestic product, that is a steal.

The 6.4 is a foreign to me. They are still exotic but I don't know what interchanges aside from cylinder heads.

I reread the article and had to laugh. Joe Jill has been around the hot rod industry for at least 50 years. It's good to see an old-timer still ticking away.

His circlips are Waldes Tru-arcs, if someone would want to look for them. They used to be the big thing in wristpin retention. As the clip is stamped, there is a sharp edge and a more rounded edge. Smokey advocated using two per side, with the sharp edges facing the outsides of the groove.

I just had a thought perhaps someone else could capitolize on...

Why not take the MDS lifters apart and shim them so they don't totally collapse, like perhaps keep .200 lobe lift so they could be shut down at low speeds to reduce lift and duration by activating and deactivating the solonoids? You could augment low speed driving with a smaller cam and have an RPM switch re-activate them at a certain RPM for full lift/duration. Or perhaps a WOT switch to activate them at or near full throttle? You would just need to set them up so all 8 cylinders are doing the same thing and it could be seemless.

The MDS is only on 4 of the cylinders.

Lots goes into the MDS deal, way more than just the lifters shutting down. It shuts the injectors off and changes the throttle angle when in MDS mode.

Question, how much lift is lost with hdy rollers over solid with same lift at cam? How much rpm can these hdy lifters go to?
