Sure you can. I plan on doing it with both of my cars and my buddy has a 69 Superbee he has done this way. Interesting in that both he and I had seperately decided to use the B&M Quicksilver shifter. He swears it was easy and problem free.

I haven't done it yet, but my friend Jay was able to keep his in. The superbee will have buckets with no buddy seat. The Barracuda is going to be a bench seat car. Jay has told me it should be no problem and I have asked about it hear and been told the same thing. The nice thing about the Quicksilver unit is that once it is in drive, it stays centered in the shift, meaning you pull back to shift to 2nd or 1st but then it(the shifter) goes back up. In other words, 1st gear will not have the shifter sitting against the seat.
