So what do you guys recommend for my new BB build oiling system. Low deck 512 bushed lifter bores street HYD Roller cam Milodon RR pan. Street car Auto trans aluminum heads 10-10.5 comp turning it to 5500-6. I was thinking a good quality standard volume pump with adjustable bypass. Of course this would be with standard BB block oiling mods. Would this set up be good.

I would run narrow full groove main bearings, I use the Seal Power or Federal Mogul # 4094 M and run the clearances at or above .0030, same thing on the rods if you running the 2.200 rod journal sizes use .0025+. I like and use the high volume oil pumps and cut the bypass spring to get the pressures where I want them (you can use the adjustable regulator like your planning on and get the same results thumbs ) with hot oil using the 10 lbs. per 1000 RPM rule thumbs You may find that the motor will want to continue to make power above 5600 RPM devil Which brand and size intake port size aluminum heads are you using?

The plan is to use the new trick flow heads std port. Still on the fence about the intake. Because of hood clearance. May have to use a torker SP for this car. Still in the layout phase on this build. Have 2 good 230 blocks so I may do a 470 along with the 512 while I'm at it. Thanks for any and all advice Cab and any who may reply to this.

Been running my 470 past 7000 r`s and up to 7800 by accident for years in the 9`s w/a Milidon HV pump and grooved mains as Cab recommended. Motor looked good after the last two freshen ups.......

Thanks Thumper. I will probably contact you for some carb work. I have a brother who lives in Yucca Valley. Is that close to you?

The basic stock BB oil system seems quite robust up to 6,500 RPM or so. With performance bearing clearance and full groove mains a HV pump will help a lot with hot oil pressure at idle and low RPM. That is my experience anyhow... and what I would suggest.
