What is the life expectancy of a Power Valve with today's pump gas? I have a friend who is getting about 2 years out of a valve before the ethanol eats the rubber. Is this normal?
Thanks!

I run a Demon 850 in the Charger. Here is CA we have Ethanol in the fuel. They list "Up to 10% Ethanol" but independent tests have shown the gas averages 6%.
I have never had a PV go bad in the carburetor of the Charger or the other 4 Holley carbureted cars I own. I've had the acc pumps fail, probably from sitting too long between startups and the pedal pumping to spring them back to life!

Same here, never had a PV go bad from the ethanol gas. I have two holleys on my car. That doesn`t mean that they don`t but I never had one fail from gas.

Ok good to know. I just installed my first Holley last spring and figured I'd pick up some spare parts.
Another question- anybody know where to get the Power Valve Socket?

Edit- I found this one at Jegs.

I might be a redneck but I just use a one inch wrench.

I'm a tool collector. I like doing things the right way. And a foot long wrench, which I have 3 of, is a little extreme for 120 inch pounds of torque. If I can find the factory tool I'll buy it. I have a beautiful Inch pound torque wrench and would love to use it for one more thing. And I'm a certified RedNeck also. With serious OCD!
Thanks anyway

I would think that there are very few that torque a power valve or there would even be the need to ! And as for the special tool, doesn't look like a torque wrench to me. shruggy

Yep. Appears to be a socket and very small breaker bar. I want the socket but will probably end up buying the Jegs tool.
Thanks

OT, most people tighten jets too much and the PV not enough

I have used a 1" deep well socket with no bar and tighten them by hand. If you have any grip at all you should be able to get it tight enough. In essence that's all the Jegs tool does. twocents

I found numbers for the Kent Moore and Snap On sockets. I'll look for one of them. Thanks
