Hi

the 904 of a friend of mine is acting weird. When in D, it shifts from 1st to 3rd gear directly, pulling 1st up to approx 2500 rpm.

When shifting manually, the same happens. Moving the lever into second gear position does not result in a shift, it sticks in 1st, when moving the lever further to 3rd gear it finally shifts into 3rd.

The only way to make it go into 2nd is when downshifting manually.

Any idea what could be the problem? Could wrong tranny fluid cause symptoms like this?

Help is greatly appreciated!

My guess would be the front band is broken or not applying for some reason but I'm no auto trans expert. Best bet is to wait for a reply from John Kunkel or another trans expert.

While your waiting for John to respond, I think I would check the kick down adjustment. if it is adjusted incorrectly, strange things do happen.

Is this something new that just happened, or has this problem been around a while? Gene

Yeah, check the adjustment first. The drum that the band grabs is turning a different direction when shifting down...might explain why it grabs when shifting down but not up. shruggy
