How close are these colors on a 70 model. I have two 70 EV2 cars and I looked at a FE5 car the other day. I thought the FE5 was lots more red than my EV2 Cuda.

Ummm maybe because the EV2 is an Orange based color although ive been wrong before, and the FE5 is Red.....

My EV2 cars could never be mistaken for red.

Well, I went to look at a ebody that was advertised as a red car. It was an older restoration. I assumed it was EV2 like my cuda just by the color is was painted. I was surprised to look at the picture of the fender tag and broadcast sheet and see FE5 when I got home.

Could be cheap paint and they faded differently, or the paint mix was off at the start. when the colors are new and correct, they are not close. EV2 has metallic.

There should be no mistaking the two colors

Hemi Orange vs Bright Red

It could be a case where someone just painted in some color from a cheap paint / body shop

I have one of each color and there is no mistaking one for the other.
I could see a shop making a mistake going strictly by the name on a Plymouth where EV2 is called Tor Red. They may mix the color and try and make it red. That shop would have to lead a pretty sheltered life however.
EV2 is a bright color in the sun due to the metallic in it. FE5 to me is more deeper red than bright.
I may have a photo of the two cars side by side I can post.

The paint formulas answer any questions...

Heres a 71 Runner I'm working on. In some of the pics, you can see where it looks very orange where it baked in the OK sun. After getting it home and polishing, you FE5 paint clearly shows thru.

Hemi Orange EV2 is as orange and as can be next to rally red.

Well, I've just decided that the painter missing color on this one or the owner wanted it orange instead of red.
