I have another thread dealing with a problem whereby my car(70 Hemi Challenger) stalls and misses after driving a short ways. Well, today another of my cars, a 1970 T/A, started doing almost the same thing except it doesn't have a miss. It is a stock T/A that was rebuilt about 3 years ago and has run perfectly(except for a vapor lock issue) up until now. Now all of a sudden today it stalls every time I slow down. It starts right back up again and doesn't seem to have a miss. Any suggestions on where to start looking???

It sounds like your cars sit's for years? If so then you need fresh gas in both, imo to start with.

They do sit for most of the year but they both have fresh gas in them, at least relatively fresh. The 70 Hemi Challenger just filled up about 3 weeks ago and the T/A about 2 days ago.

How old was the gas in them prior to you just filling them up?

These are common problems w/vehicles that sit and even after 30-40 days I`ve seen varnish and plugged up carbs beyond anything but a rebuild..............just sent out two that were a mess.

72 Dart 470 n/a BB stroker street car `THUMPER`...Check me out on FB Dominic Thumper for videos and lots of carb pics......760-900-3895.....

iagree Pump gas is crap and goes bad real fast. If they're gonna sit, get some sta-bil or mix in some race gas.

Don't use pump gas in a classic car that sits. Use race gas or straight gas with no ethanol like they sell at marinas.

I put StaBil in the gas when they sit for over the winter. I don't think old gas would start fine, run fine and then stall on deceleration.

Your right, it wont.
Spray all the little carb holes with carb cleaner and compressed air.

Gas will go flat... it looses the RVP out of it(the
high ends of the fuel) even with Stabil... under load
the the fuel wont burn properly... the RVP(Reed Vapor
Pressure) wont make the high ends which makes the vapor
which you actually burn... remember you dont burn the
liquid... the vapor makes the BOOM
EDIT
Under load you need a good fuel and a good ignition

I really do appreciate the input but the car isn't stalling under load, it's stalling when I slow down. The only time I have ever had a problem with an engine that I really feel was due to old gas was with my outboard motor. My boat had some 3-4 year old gas in the right side fuel tank and it would start and idle fine but did not have enough power to get up on plane. When I switched to the left tank which had fresh gas the problem went away. Before I switched tanks, I checked the plugs and they all looked good except 1 was slightly fouled. Afterwards, I was talking to a marine mechanic and he told me exactly which plug was fouled and he said that was a sure sign of old gas in that motor, it is a 200 hp Mercury EFI.

So have you checked the ignition... or a plugged air bleed
