I'm knocking down a current reasonable paint job and doing a little bit of metal work on the car as well. 90% of the car is sanded good paint and the rest is bare metal.

I have some Shop-Line Epoxy primer that I used before on a bare metal engine bay and it worked out fine for that application, but it is not sandable at all. It just gums up paper. So I am looking to find out what I should do here,

Can I shoot a coat of Epoxy on the car and when that flashes switch to Building primer so that I can work it? I would prefer to do this as I have a large portion of the interior of the car is bare metal and I would like to shoot that at the same time.

Thanks!

if you are using shop line filling primer then yes.
if not wait a couple hours, preferably over night, then scuff epoxy primer and sprat filler primer. you SHOULD be ok, but no guarantees.

the reason is because you risk compatibility problems using different brands of primer wet on wet.
sometimes compatibility problems don't show up until you top coat.

perception is 90% of reality

If you want a sandable epoxy primer try the Southern Polyurethane brand it sands easily after an overnight dry. They say as long as you apply your primer surfacer within 7 days no sanding is necessary.
