On a 67 GTX with power steering, I noticed excessive play in the steering wheel. With a little more investigation I see that there is slop where the steering column couples to the splines of the steering box. What is the usual fix for this?
Thanks, Joel

What General said, & if it is bad enough to be dealt with, then no choice but to pull the column & open the coupler

If I read your question correctly, it is the splines in the coupling that are worn out. probably from rust. only fix I know is to get a new one.

Thanks for the replies. The slop that I am seeing is actually in the splines between the shaft of the steering box and the inside diameter of the coupler. Is a new coupler available somewhere?
