It's on a 383 with A/C. It's a sensor with two prongs mounted next to the pipe fittings for the heater hoses. Anyone know what's it's called so I can order a new one?
I would of posted a picture but it's too large
Thanks for any help

My Superbee has A/C and I am putting it back in. I think this sensor has something to do with it.

Automatic or Manual transmission?
Does the probe extend into the Coolant passage, the intake runner, or just into the cast iron?
What color wires (in the harness) attach to the two prongs? (can check the wiring schematic)
My guess, not knowing the above answers, would be a Temperature Sender, a sensor part of the "Cleaner Air" emissions package, or a sensor for drivability adjustment or engine overheat protection.
Looking through the 1971 Dodge Factory Service Manual, A/C section, I didn't see anything about a coolant temperature sensor, but perhaps I missed it?

I'm thinkin' that some C bodies had a hot and cold light like GM's? Yep, COLD light until it warmed to 140°F then it went out and HOT light came on at 240°F. C-body only.

Yes, but the vehicle in question (according to the original poster) is a 1971 Dodge SuperBee. My Superbee has A/C and I am putting it back in. Agree with Mopar4ever, clean the sensor and look for a Part Number.
