340 with w2's, .590 purple, 904 with 5500 Dynamic, 5.13's with a 29" Hoosier. I am considering a switch to 5.38's to see what would happen. Suggestions? My reasoning is to try and compensate a little for not having a low first in the trans. and see about picking up my 60ft. a little (best is a 1.55) trying to get a 10.9? out of this combo at Bandimere altitude. Thank you for the help.

Better get inside Ma. Looks like a storm's comin'.

Ron, I am shifting at 76-7800. I hate to say it but not sure where I am trapping at because I am concentrating on driving. I will say the shift light nor Rev limiter come on.

I'm no pro by any means, and full understand your "lack-o-air" dilemma..... but what has me concerned is "why" a car geared that much is only going 1.5+ in the 60 time with a seemingly healthy build? Feeling that the "5500" converter might not be so "5500" and that it's not able to get out of it's own way off the line.....maybe?

Jbody, I believe I may had had issues with the carb. I have since sent it to Thumpercarbs and am planning on positive results in that department. I am sure the convertor stalls there and it probably has less than 100 passes on it. Not sure how often to have them freshened.

Not exactly sure of the LSA but it installed on a 104*. Heads are w2's that have been ported, but I would prefer to use stock numbers if that info is needed. I bought them used and don't have flow numbers. The lash is set at .25 in/ex cold. I will have to wait until tomorrow to give time slip incremental as I am out of town. 11.55@115 was best pass last year, have not been able to get out yet this year.

If you want the best ET, regardless of your combo, hp peak rpm, etc.. Rear gear it as much as the motor can take rpm-wise at the stripe, don't worry about going past hp peak rpm as long as your motor can reliably do it, some combos ET best going 1500 rpm or so past hp peak at the stripe.
