Okay so here is my problem,I have a 1995 dodge 2500 Cummins 4x4 5 speed and when I'm going down the road it skips and bangs really loud like someones banging on my transfer case with a mall but I disconnected my front d shaft and I all ready have the 5th gear but upgraded I still have all my gears no grinding just bring also popped my diff cover and looks like new thanks

The reason I pulled the drive shaft I thought maybe chain got stretched so I pulled it off to see if the popping and skipping went would go away

If the transfer case has internal issuses removing one drive shaft isn't going to tell you much of anything.

Its more than likely the front shift fork is worn out in the transfer case , its an easy fix. It will lose high range soon if thats the problem
