the Mad system bypasses the OE ammeter which renders it inaccurate & does keep alot of current out of the dash side of the bulkhead/firewall. Another option (my pref) is to keep the ammeter functioning (I'm old school I like it) & (1) replace the (4) brass terminals in the bulkhead which handle the main in/out current with (2) lengths of wire by drilling out the four bulkhead cavities (Nachos bulkhead parallel bypass) (2) cleaning EVERY terminal/connection (3) relaying the headlights/AC/heater directly to the alt in the eng bay (4)largest crank pulley/smaller alt pulley (there's 2 sizes) (5) adequate capacity battery (6) better alt in some cases (7) add a switched 12V voltmeter. Ma's system worked well most all the time & taking off some of the load (lights etc) makes it even less likely to ever be problematic & I like my ammeter. If you dont mind losing the ammeter the Madd people do know their stuff
