So I have had my 2005 crew cab fixed several years ago and now the new 05 single cab I just bought has the same problem. The air is cold but will not change to the defrost, floor or other vents. It blows hard but does not come out really anywhere very good. I looked on you tube and have not found a good video yet. Anyone know of a good one that shows how to fix the problem. Money is a little tight and I hate to spend $600 on a repair at the shop.

Those guys talk about cutting into the box and then repairing it. Not sure if that is what I need to do.

I used a heatertreater kit on my 99 Grand Cherokee that involved cutting into the box and coupling the flaps for both sides up to one motor worked great for about 4 years till I sold the truck, easy hour long project that worked out fine.

I had same problem. Blend door broke off and landed on top of blower fan. Could here fan blowing hard but hardly any air coming out. I removed glove box door, then cut out part of the plastic covered up by the door, ( you wont see it once you put the door back on). Then removed blower motor and could reach up into the ducting and remove the door. I cheaped out and taped the door back in place over fresh air vent. I wasn't concerned about getting fresh air in.

To fix it correctly you will prob have to replace the electric motor that opens and closes the door and the door since it will probably have the splined end broken off.

PSO headed 632 from MM. Cracked cylinder, loose valve seats, low oil pressure, low cylinder pressure.
..... Now its a door stop....

Do it the right way, pull the dash, remove the heater box, replace all of the actuators and doors along with the heater core and evaporator and be done with it. The last one I did it took about 4 hours.

Well the heater and AC work fine so don't want to replace all of that. My bud at the dealership told me that I really need to pull the dash out on the right side and just replace the one blend door. A good tech can do it in can hour or so. Think I'll try that. The new part is can improved design.

Heater treater is the way to go! Can't beat a steel door! The motors are to strong that close the doors is what breaks them. If the recirc door is broke you can remove the blower motor and pull the broke door out in about 10 minutes.

If I'm not mistaken....there is an updated blend door "housing" assembly for that year 05/06 truck....?? I can check tomorrow when I get to work if you want? To help clarify, I would just need the last 8 digits of your VIN and can tell you for sure....?

Every single one that I've done has needed every door replaced. This is a very common problem on the later rams trucks. Should have been a recall from Chrysler but won't ever happen. I'm an over doer so I tend to do things before I need to or have to. Good luck.

I been putting it off for two years on my 06 3500, getting harder to like these guys from Chrysler with all the issues mine has or had. Injectors now. Seems like we're returning to the 60s or earlier, when they where sold or traded after they got 50,000 miles.

Yes there is an updated housing but you have to pull the dash out on the pass side to get to it to change it. I just bought the truck for my wife and she says not to mess with it for now. It works good enough to the time being. I've got a charger and a barracuda in the shop to sell and they are just labor intensive to get ready to go.

Go over to http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/ and poke around. Someone did a detailed write up a few years ago on how to change the door. I printed out the instructions, and did mine in about an hour. You don't actually remove the dash. You just rock it back out of the way, so you have room to work. Good luck.
