You can take it to a reputable upholstery shop that specializes in convertible tops, and they should be able to adjust the vinyl to work properly. That is assuming the vinyl has not gotten brittle.

I have a vinyl bed cover on my truck. It most certainly stretches with heat. It's soft, and much looser, easier to snap on in the hot summer sun than it is on a cold winter day. When it's cold out, I have to pull HARD to get slack and be able to snap it in place.

Ah. OK. the bed cover was a christmas present. I had to put a space heater in the bed with the cover loosely in place until the heater built up some heat and allowed me to pull it into place and secure all the snaps!
