I have a 68 road runner with a 440, I'm trying to get the car drivable it's been sitting for a few years. It needs kickdown linkage, I don't know what years and models are interchangeable? Are 440 and 383 linkage the same? Would linkage from any bigblock b-body be compatible? I'm going to try and source the linkage from a salvage yard I checked out over the weekend and if I can't find the stuff there I'll wait till the swapmeets in the fall.

NO, you need the 440 ONLY if you are using stock kickdown...

Been there done this before with my 67 440 car....

If you look in the FSM you will see the bellcrank pictures are different..

The 440 is taller so the linkage rod that goes down from the top bellcrank to the bell crank on the side of the trans may not have enough adjustment to be used on a 440 if it's on a 383 , otherwise the other parts would be the same., that's till about 71 , after that the factory went to a one piece linkage and the 383 and 440 part would be different.

Good luck finding that stuff in a junkyard in 2015 ...

running up my post count some more .

The paddock used to sell a repop. Maybe the actual source still exists?

I want my fair share
