Hey guys

I am swapping to an in-tank electric fuel pump on my '69 Super Bee. I have removed the mechanical pump, but the access plug to pull the push rod is stuck (allen fitting is stripped).

I have literally 100 other things that I need to work on instead of this, so can I just leave the pump pushrod in there without a fuel pump to keep it down? I fear that engine vibration will somehow cause it to rise up and maybe do some damage to the cam... but maybe that is unlikely?

Thanks!
Paul

It would *probably* be fine as it will just lay against the inside of the plug. However, I wouldn't want to leave something like that in case you ever decide to back to mechanical later on.

I would see if you could drill though it and tap it for a bolt to get it on out.

Leave the pushrod in place, won't hurt a thing.

I had a 361 BB many years ago and I just left it in because I couldn`t get the plug out either.

Thanks for the advice guys! I'm just going to leave it in there for now.

You could leave it, or weld a nut to the plug (from inside the hole in the nut), then hit it with some WD-40. The heat should also help loosen it, then just remove it with a wrench or socket.

Leave it , it's not going to jump up ... unless you put the car on it's ROOF ... and even if it did it's not going to hurt anything , if it were going to it would hurt stuff even worse if it were riding on the lobe.

running up my post count some more .
